The Medicines Control Authority of Zimbabwe (MCAZ) Board recently participated in a Board Induction and Corporate Governance Training Programme held in Kadoma from 4 to 5 June 2026. Conducted in collaboration with the Corporate Governance Unit (CGU), the programme sought to strengthen the Board’s understanding of governance principles, statutory obligations, and strategic oversight responsibilities.

The training covered key areas including MCAZ’s mandate and financial performance, Government expectations of public entity boards, the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act [Chapter 10:31], accountability, transparency, ethics and integrity, audit and risk management, performance contracting, and the Corporate Governance Management Information System (CGMIS).

Facilitators emphasised the need for boards to shift from a compliance-driven approach to one focused on performance, service delivery, and value creation. The programme reflects Government’s commitment to strengthening corporate governance and enhancing the effectiveness of public entity boards in delivering national development outcomes.
